Tioga, Pennsylvania

It's been a few years since I've been in this house. My great Aunt and Uncle lived here and my great aunt may still but I've heard that her health has gone down hill.
Years ago my grandmother (not the one I was visiting) took my cousin and I to a wedding here. We got to watch the bride get dressed in one of the upstairs rooms with her attendants. The wedding was held in the livingroom. The reception was held outside. The children played on a rickety old swingset and ran around. For a child about 9 or 10 it was beautiful.

I've been back since. Took a walk in the woods with cousins (which gave my grandmother a scare as there were rattlesnakes around). My great uncle used to kill snakes in his garden. The last time I was there my great aunt, her son and I sat in the kitchen and talked about family and my genealogy work.

Now the new interstate goes through the backyard. There will be no more walks through the woods and there is no garden for the rattlesnakes to hide in. Posted by Picasa
