S2 pitching

S2 did not make the high school team this year and in many ways we couldn't be happier. The initial reaction was sadness as he is an excellant player and husband had to go to the school and lodge a complaint as he felt that someone had to put their neck out so that what happened to our son does not happen to another. Hopefully that will make someone's life a little easier in tryouts to come (but I'm not holding my breath).

Anyway, S2 is happy without the pressure to perform as perfect as possible (has had a few homeruns hit off of him this year) and it's fun as a parent to go to the park, enjoy the game and remember that it's only a game. Posted by Picasa

Sports has gone out of control in NY with "travel teams" and kids getting cut or not making teams at a very young age. It really disturbs me - because it is just a game - but now it's a game that parents seem to be living through.

I played lacrosse for 8 years and won awards and all that stuff. Teaching someone to be a good athlete/teamplayer is different than teaching someone to be a "winner".

That said. I love the pictures of your boys playing ball.
