Tonight

I'm baking cookies. Turned on the oven, put cookies on the cookie sheet and set the timer. Came back when the timer went off, opened the oven door and saw that I had forgotten to put the cookie sheet into the oven. My uncle would find that funny and add it to the list of stories that he would remind me about. Hotdogs and scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs and the rootbeer barrel candy story are other ones. They mean nothing to others but are funny to me.

My uncle has had lung cancer for over two years now and the journey is almost over. There are many sad things about death. One is realizing that there is one less person to remember and laugh with.

You haven't mentioned your uncle in a long time. This was a lovely post. I know what you mean about the memories and laughter that pass away with the life of a loved one.

But the love between you doesn't die.it's what sustains us after it's all over.

He was always ready with a story or a joke. After his voice became barely a whisper, he was still telling stories and cracking wise. A true character. :-)

Awwww--this brings tears to my eyes friend...loosing a loved one is never easy, but those stories and memories you share will live forever your heart.
