After an adventure that involved deer chasing, the dogs and I headed back to our house. Coming back through the woods I noticed the path the the dogs have worn into the yard over the years. I find it curious as it is not the straightest distance between two points but has a curve to it and no discernible reason for the curve - at least that I can tell. It was interesting to watch the dogs bound to the house in front of me. They were loyal to the path and to the curve. No deviation at all.

Have I mentioned how much I love where you live? It truly would be my dream location.
Creatures of habit ehh?
Dominique Browning wrote a book called Paths of Desire. These are the paths we naturally make, which is why gardeners and park planners should watch where people walk before putting in a sidewalk. I had never heard the term before her book, and now I think about it a lot. Our dogs and our farm animals definitely use the same paths when they traverse the pastures. It really is fascinating. And ever notice regular meetings or church where people most often sit in the same area or seat? There's a metaphor for life here. :<)
That is so cool and interesting. I have blazed a similar trail...to the refrigerator.
LC - yes, it is a pretty area
jane and nan - Some time ago I saw a show where thee was an aerial view of what seemed like thousands of some kind of animal migrating across a plain area and they also kept to ancient paths. Nan, I almost always sit on the right side of church in the back :-)
evi - I've laughed all evening over your statement!
