For my list please see this link - my 2007/2008/2009 booklist. I did not write down every book that read - good ones and some stinkers.
As I look over the list the 5 best ones that I remember with great fondness were (in no particular order):
1. The Scythe by Ray Bradbury - short story
2. Life Among the Savages by Shirley Jackson
3. The War Against Miss Winter by Kathryn Miller Haines
4. Mausoleum by Justin Scott
For #5 one that is not on the list is John LeCarre's A Small Town in Germany.
The Stinker on the list was Shultz and Peanuts by David Michaelis. Too long and drawn out.

I loved the Jackson book too, though I never liked the title. :<)
