I went for a hike

to the nature preserve while it was raining. The road noise made it imperitive that I walk to the woods where the only thing that I could hear were squirrels and birds.

Squirrels were sitting on fence posts with acorns in their paws looking at me quizically. It took me awhile to find the little brown birds that were hunting their dinner in the fallen leaves.

Afterwards I went to my favorite coffee house to have a mocha. Where I pretend that the art that is created on the top of my coffee is done just for me.

A Christmas Celebration

is my theme for this December.

Last year everyday was alphabet related and I was surprised at how much I got done during the holidays. Didn't do everything that I wanted to do of course - ideas come to me faster than time allows implementation. But still, I was quite pleased with the results - from a blogger's point of view to more personal.

This year I have decided to be more ambigious. I want to share (and possibly reshare) some recipes. Take more photos. See if I can find more things to do in my little corner of the word (sometimes I think that I have seen/done everything here). There may be several posts per day and somedays only one.

Hope that you enjoy it.

Shhhh

I try never to cry in front of the guys as it seems to upset them so much when I do.

But there is talk of grad schools this Thanksgiving. And many of them are far away.

Far away.

So coming home for Thanksgiving could be in hearts only.

I knew this day was coming but . . .

So I am enjoying this one.

And who knows.

Next year we could be joining S1 in Hawaii!!

Thanksgiving is a busy

time for 4 and 5 year olds. We had our feast, made cornecopia headbands, learned about the pilgrims, made great Indian costumes and sang songs and said poems for our parents.

On Monday starts Christmas . . . Good thing that I have 5 days to rest up!!

It is a topsy turvy world

here at the little blue house.

I apologize for those who have left comments and then didn't see their comments appear. I thought that I had turned off comment moderation. Oops. May not have. Will have to recheck everything again.

My father, over a cup of coffee this morning, asked me if I was celebrating my birthday for a week and hence no blogging.

No. . .

Earlier this week, can't remember which night, the toilet upstairs overflowed. While we were sleeping. I woke up to strange sound, walked into the bathroom and water was ALL OVER the floor. Then I heard the dripping downstairs. Water was leaking out from the ceiling onto the floor.

I woke husband up. When it became clear that he wasn't fully awake and probably wouldn't be for awhile I sent him back to bed. Was up until 2? mopping, bailing, cleaning.

The next day I took out a two by 6? foot section of the den ceiling and threw it away so that the area could dry out.

I am still trying to recover from lack of sleep.

It was a busy week at school also. The big Thanksgiving feast for the preK was on Friday. Enjoyed by all and MUCH anticipated by my class to the point that the excitement rivaled Christmas. Our Thanksgiving play is on Tuesday. Then 5 days of break.

Bella had her first adolescent puppy class this past Monday. A BIG dog came in and rushed her in anger and poor Bella peed all over the floor. A fence went up between the two dogs and a sheet put over that. Can't wait for the next class.

Am painting a Christmas village.

And yes, our letter of the week was T and one word mentioned by a child was topsy-turvy. Described the week perfectly!!

This is my birthday weekend.

I celebrated today with my coworkers. My coteacher made a wonderful cake for me.

I made a cake for my class. They sang Happy Birthday and some of the girls spent their time in freeplay making me birthday cakes out of playdoh with different kinds of pretend candles in it for me to blow out.

I asked some of my students what husband should give me for my birthday. The funniest answer - a baby.
Husband has had a stressful day at work so I'm not sure that he would find the humor in it. I thought it was funny.

The reminder phone call from the doctors office said that the appointment was at 3. When I arrived the nurse said "your appointment was at 2." So I rescheduled. But am not too unhappy. I am celebrating and there is no room for such things as doctors.

Tomorrow I am spending the afternoon with S1. We will be working on grad school applications. One requires a residency form filled out and that is what I will be doing. Hopefully there will be time to go to campus for great coffee and also time to play with the roommate's sugar gliders.

Sunday is the actual day. I will get phone calls and in the evening will officially join the church that husband and I have attended for the past few years.

Comment Moderation Free

I should have added word verification also.

Comment moderation has been removed from this blog. It was largely on because of spam but after reading so many blogs that had posts against it I have removed any moderation. Who knew that it was that controversial.

Will see how it goes.

The letter

I is our Letter of the Week this week. We talked about the letter, what sound it makes and words that start with the letter I.

I showed the children pictures of ice cream, ice cube and an iron. Only one child knew what an iron was. No one else had seen one before.

Heinz/Guest Writer

I have decided to get up off of my usual spot on the bed and become a guest writer for my favorite person. She is mumbling something about a meeting that has something to do about where she goes in the morning (when she should be sleeping with me in the sunbeam), her computer not working and an annual physical that is coming up this week also (I tell her that she is lucky that she can drive a car to the doctor's office and not have to be put in a cage for the ride. . . she isn't listening).

So sometimes I will be writing. But now it is time to go back for a nap.

computers

are causing some issues at the little blue house. Collectively they have decided to have unattractive tantrums so much of my day yesterday was working with them and consequently everything else was ignored.

We did watch, or try to watch, the movie Lost in Translation. Turned it off in the middle of the movie. It started out with great possibilities but something was lost in the translation.

On paper November

looks like it promises to be on the dismal side.

A birthday for me, anniversary of a couple of deaths, obligations that could finally cause that ulcer that my body has been trying to create.

But I am also old enough to know that life is what you make of it. Lemonade out of lemons if you will.

So I am watching movies, painting a Christmas village, thinking of Christmas presents to buy or make.

Reading books, petting cats, chasing goofy dogs.

Wishing all of us a pleasant November.
